Later Christoph Mutter decided not to pursue an artistic career and opted to study law at university. From the very start, along with purely academic knowledge, he made every effort to gain practical experience.

After studying law in Freiburg and Heidelberg, and taking his doctoral degree at the University of Mainz, in 1996 Dr. Christoph Mutter joined KPMG in Frankfurt. From the beginning, he took an interdisciplinary approach to consultancy – something he was fully able to do, being very broadly qualified, as a lawyer, auditor and tax accountant.

As a speaker and contributor, Dr. Mutter has the reputation of being both expert and stimulating, and his numerous publications have made him a considerable name. His daily business includes schemes for anticipated profit and loss under both tax and civil law, corporate reorganisations, M&A, funds and trusts, and consultancy on international tax law.

As Dr. Mutter now realises, his change from music to law was not such a great break – organisational consultancy needs an enormous amount of creativity, too.
