The dual trust – an unusual type of succession scheme

Over the last few years, private wealth has hit historically record highs in Germany. Assets have been destroyed neither by war nor inflation, but can be transferred unimpaired to succeeding generations.

On the other hand, we see a considerable loosening of family bonds. Many elderly people are therefore considering whether to transfer their assets to their own descendents at all, or whether to do so only in part, and to devote them instead to a good cause. When large quantities of assets are involved, a Doppelstiftung & Co. KG (dual corporate trust) may be the right scheme.
